Travelling to the EU post Brexit

Advice on Passport Requirements Post Brexit

If you are considering or looking forward to the host of 2019 International clay target events and traveling outside of the UK, you may wish to give the following advice a little consideration whilst dusting of your travel kit and passport and making your travel arrangements..

With the UK due to leave the European Union (EU) (Brexit) on March 29th 2019 there is amongst other things a potential issue with UK passports.

If we leave the EU without a deal then British citizens will need at least six (6) months validity on their passport from the date of arrival in many European countries. This will apply when visiting the 26 Schengen Area countries which includes most EU states.

Exceptions are Cyprus, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania, all these countries have their own entry requirements; currently, Ireland is not amongst those of the EU that are going to change their rules.

If the UK leaves with a deal, then until the end of 2020, there should be no change to current passport validity rules.

If you are unsure about the expiry date of your passport and the events you are considering, then visit the following web site: passport.service.gov.uk/check-a-passport this is a Government created site for a ‘no-deal passport check tool.

If you renew your passport early, you are credited with up to nine (9) months added to your 10 year passport validity.
